Detective Superintendent Ken Keelan is a District Officer attached to the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, one of six Bureaus within An Garda Siochana involved in the investigation of Organised & Serious Crime. He has thirty-eight years’ experience as an investigator having served as a Detective at all ranks. He is a qualified Senior Investigating Officer and has taken the lead role in numerous major investigations.

Detective Superintendent Keelan currently leads two teams within the Criminal Investigation Department of the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation operating on a national and international level. He oversees the investigation of a wide range of serious and organised crime, committed both in Ireland and abroad.

In addition to serious and organised crime Detective Superintendent Keelan leads national units responsible for the investigation of Intellectual Property Copyright & Counterfeit, Arts & Antiquities and Environmental/Wildlife related crime. He is the designated representative for An Garda Siochana, working with both national and international stakeholders and agencies to investigate and enforce intellectual property law. He has led major operations related to intellectual property crime working with Europol, Interpol, international police forces and international brand holders resulting in successful prosecutions within the Irish Criminal Justice System.
